Kohler launches cleaner diesel engine
KOHLER, Wis. — The Kohler Engine Co. has developed a new line of cleaner small diesel engines.
The product was introduced at the company's headquarters in Kohler Tuesday and at its subsidiary in Italy where the engine was developed. Kohler says it's the most important product launch for the company in decades.
The diesel engines produce 10 times fewer carbon particulate emissions, also known as soot. Like other engine makers, Kohler has been working to meet stricter air emissions regulations that go into effect in 2013 in the United States and Europe.
The engines are used in small tractors, forklifts, generators and compressors. The Journal Sentinel (http://bit.ly/uvCkCA ) says the new engines will be available late next year.
