Golash made a good point on role models
Among one of my first tasks when I open the paper is going to the Neighbor section to read the Fencepost. These are comments by thoughtful neighbors giving their opinions on topics so varied they are always enlightening to read.
Today Oct. 17, Roman G. Golash of Palatine made his point, in my opinion, when he said to search out positive role models from a given culture for our young people to read about and emulate is more important than to chose those who may be in the counter culture or mythological beings.
I am not Hispanic but I now have several names of individuals that I can look up on Wikipedia and read about.
I thank him for that and so should the academics who failed to look outside the box to give their students a hero to learn from.
