Arlington Hts. Eternal Flame installed

The 15-foot tall bronze Eternal Flame sculpture designed by Fran Volz of Arlington Heights has been installed in Memorial Park.

The sculpture and granite base cost $110,000, partially because of an increase in copper prices since the project began, said Greg Padovani, chairman of the Drive to Revive Memorial Park Committee.

The committee still owes $25,000 to the Park Foundation and continues to accept contributions for its work at the tiny park at Fremont Street and Chestnut Avenue.

“The beauty of this unique tribute to our veterans and their families is matched by the commitment of all the people who made it happen,” Padovani said in a statement.

The community is invited to join the members of the Drive to Revive Memorial Park and the Arlington Heights Historical Museum on Saturday, Nov. 12, for a day of honoring veterans.
