Chicago Express rally falls short

The Chicago Express rallied from an early 2-0 deficit, but Matt Pope netted a goal early in the third period and the South Carolina Stingrays held on for a 3-2 victory Sunday night at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates.

The Express used a 5-on-3 man advantage in the first period to cut the deficit to 2-1 when Blair Riley scored, with assists going to Chaz Johnson and Drew Paris.

Just 18 seconds into the second period, Aaron Marvin of the Express fired in his own rebound to knot the game at 2-2. Rob Nolan was in goal for the Express.
