Steps to diminish gang violence

Gang violence in the Chicago area has been an ongoing problem for many years. There are a number of things that can be done to help diminish the problem.

One would be to increase the police force in the city and increase their presence at night. Another is to try to keep kids involved in other activities to help them avoid gangs. They can continue to increase the after school activities and try to keep the kids involved in school.

Also, they can increase the severity of the punishments for gang violence and other activities they may take part in. By increasing the punishment, kids would rethink what they are doing because they will know that if and when they get caught, they will suffer a severe punishment.
