Grayslake Central tops Marian Central for regional title
Asa Goldsmith, Isaac Longenecker and Phillip Longenecker scored goals, as Grayslake Central’s boys soccer team won its own Class 2A regional championship with a 3-1 win over Marian Central on Saturday.
It was the Rams’ first regional title since 2006, when they captured the second of back-to-back titles.
Steven Anderson earned the win in goal for Grayslake Central, while James Garcia added an assist.
“We played great soccer, the best soccer we have played all year,” Rams coach Mike McCaulou said. “I am so happy and proud of our boys for coming together this year when it counts. It’s been a while since we won a regional. We will enjoy it and go back to work Monday.”
