Church-state law in place to protect us

The hypocrisy of letter writer Jim Finnegan (Oct. 11) is truly astounding. Mr. Finnegan, no one is taking away your religious freedom; however, you wish to take away mine by requiring me and others to confirm and obey your religious beliefs. Our very wise Founding Fathers set up our government with a separation of church and state, as well as a Constitution protecting all from discrimination. It’s unfortunate so many people seem determined to undermine these crucial pincipals and freedoms, the bedrock of our country.
