Racine police investigating child’s death

RACINE, Wis. — Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in the apparent homicide of a 2-year-old Racine girl.

Officers arrested the man Thursday evening on suspicion of first-degree reckless homicide. Formal charges are expected from the Racine County District Attorney’s office.

Police say a 22-year-old woman appeared with her 2-year-old daughter at a hospital emergency room early Thursday. Hospital staffers reported the mother’s explanation was inconsistent with the girl’s life-threatening injuries.

The girl, identified as Donnasia Jackson, was taken to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee, where police say she died Thursday evening.

Police say two children from the home have been taken into protective custody.
