Former St. Xavier employee admits to stealing $850K
A former employee of St. Xavier University has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $850,000 from the school.
Federal prosecutors said Friday that 56-year-old Susan Piros of Rincon, Ga., pleaded guilty as part of an agreement. They say the former Frankfort woman admitted to stealing the fraudulent reimbursements over more than a decade. Pros was vice president for business and finance at the university. The school has campuses in Orland Park and Chicago.
Prosecutors say Piros knew that expenses less than $10,000 needed only her approval. They say she repeatedly submitted fake requests for what she called school-related expenses for less than $10,000 to hide the stolen money.
Piros’ plea agreement allows the court to order full restitution. She will be sentenced in January.
