Masked man robs Waukegan bank at gunpoint

A man wearing a ski mask robbed a Waukegan bank of around $1,000 at gunpoint Monday afternoon, according to police.

Police have released surveillance photos of the man who robbed the Seaway National Bank, 1334 N. Lewis Ave., and are asking for the public's help locating him.

The thief, described as a black man between 6 feet and 6 feet, 2 inches tall with a thin build, was wearing dark clothing, a black hooded sweatshirt, a black ski mask and white tennis shoes when he robbed the bank, according to police.

He entered the bank, which is located in a strip mall, about 1:20 p.m. and pointed a black semiautomatic handgun at the teller while demanding money. The teller handed over approximately $1,000 and the man fled in a green minivan, possibly a Chrysler, police said.

No one was injured during the robbery.
