Des Plaines man gets four years for selling cocaine
A Des Plaines man on already probation for possession of a controlled substance pleaded guilty Tuesday to selling 2.7 grams of cocaine to an undercover Streamwood police officer last July.
Cook County Judge Thomas Fecarotta sentenced David Avila, 21 to four years in prison in exchange for his guilty plea to delivery of a controlled substance, a class 1 felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
Avila received credit for the 2½ months he has been in custody since his arrest. He must complete at least 50 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
