A person was injured in a car vs. pedestrian accident in the 800 block of Roselle Road in Schaumburg late Monday. The pedestrian was transported from the scene to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. His condition this morning is unknown.
<h3 class="briefHead">Former U-46 boss testifies in bias trial</h3>
Former U-46 superintendent Connie Neale denied telling administrators to remove English Language Learners from the program after three years when she took the stand yesterday in a discrimination suit filed in 2005. The suit claims the district discriminated against Hispanic and black students. The director of the ELL program testified that Neale transitioned students into English-only classrooms even though they were not proficient in the language. "It was never the intent," Neale said. "We wanted kids to be proficient after three years of English." Full story.
<h3 class="briefHead">4-year-old may have seen mother murdered in Glen Ellyn</h3>
Police continue to seek the ex-husband of 36-year-old Nancy Bustos, who was found murdered in their joint apartment Sunday morning. A 4-year-old special needs child may have been present when his mother was killed. Juan M. Granados has not been heard from since the murder and is considered a "person of interest" by police. The 4-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl are being cared for by family members. Full story.
<h3 class="briefHead">Cops: Elgin man fired gun in auto shop</h3>
A 23-year-old Elgin man is scheduled to appear in court this morning to face charges alleging he fired a gun into the floor of a downtown auto shop yesterday where he used to work. Police said Kyle Horn entered Elgin Driveline, 226 State St., late Monday morning and fired the weapon during an altercation with his former boss. He was charged with aggravated discharge of a weapon and unlawful use of a weapon, police said. Full story.
<h3 class="briefHead">Ex-Des Plaines man accused of stalking Selena Gomes</h3>
Actress Selena Gomez is seeking protection from a former Des Plaines man who served jail time for stalking a convenience store employee. Los Angeles police detectives informed the Disney Channel star that Thomas Brodnicki admitted to traveling from Chicago to L.A. to meet her and told a mental health physician he was thinking about killing her. Police are taking the matter "extremely seriously," according to court documents. Full story.
<h3 class="briefHead">70 people sue Lombard Subway over food poisoning</h3>
Seventy people have filed a joint lawsuit against a Lombard Subway following a food poisoning outbreak in late 2010. The complaint accuses the Subway at 1009 E. Roosevelt Road of negligence and breach of warranty in connection with the outbreak. Health officials at the time confirmed more than 120 cases of shigella, which closed the restaurant for more than six weeks. Full story.

Gov. Pat Quinn announced some details of his gambling vision including support for a Lake County casino, but a longtime push to put slot machines at Arlington Park is not in his plans. Quinn wants to make the gambling proposal approved by lawmakers smaller and made clear yesterday he does not want slots at the track or at O'Hare International Airport. "We're talking about casinos at racetracks," Quinn said. "Don't kid yourself." Quinn also backed plans for a new casino in Chicago. Full story.

Arlington Heights Village President Arlene Mulder is one of five U.S. mayors on a visit to Saudi Arabia. Mulder is part of a delegation as a guest of the Saudi government sent to get a firsthand about several aspects of the country's government and life. Full story.
<h3 class="briefHead">Bear wants a trade</h3>
Chicago Bears safety Chris Harris has requested a trade after being demoted from started to inactive for Sunday night's victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Coach Lovie Smith says that demotion was not a snap decision but has not talked to Harris about the trade request. "Nobody loses their job so quickly," Smith said. "There is a period of time that you go through, and for us, I as the head football coach, felt like I knew what Chris was, (and I) wanted to get a chance to see what some of our other players could do. Congestion is already starting on the area highways this morning as drivers try and avoid construction and resurfacing projects throughout the system. Specifically, people should avoid Irving Park Road between East Avenue and Bartlett Road in Streamwood and Hanover Park because of construction, and routes 12 and 120 due to ongoing roadwork. Traffic is reduced to one lane in that area. In addition, police are reporting an accident at Lake and Barrington roads in Hanover Park.
