Eating out: Waterleaf now open at COD

College of DuPage's 60,000-square-foot Culinary and Hospitality Center featuring Waterleaf Restaurant and boutique hotel Inn at Water's Edge are now open. Waterleaf offers a contemporary approach to fine dining with locally grown and seasonal ingredients with lunch, dinner and brunch menus. Featured dinner entrees include braised snapper fillet in coconut and lemon grass for $28 and roasted rack of lamb with a tomato-stuffed carrot purée, asparagus and Yukon Gold potato galette and lamb reduction for $34.

Halloween cookies Wildfire-style
Parents and kiddos will learn to make Halloween cookies the Wildfire way at a hands-on class from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22. The spooktacular lesson costs $10 per child, plus tax and gratuity.

Sullivan's goes pink
There's a pink menu at Sullivan's Steakhouse throughout October that benefits breast cancer research. The three-course meal costs $39.95. Entree choices include filet mignon, Cajun-dusted salmon fillet with truffle-red pepper chili butter, roasted chicken breast with wild mushroom-Madeira ragout and crab-stuffed shrimp with chive beurre blanc.
