Batavia District 101 saves $363,000 in energy costs
Batavia Public School District 101 saved a little more than $363,000 in energy costs the last year through the Energy Education Program.
School officials say the money saved it equal to about 17 percent of the district’s expected energy costs if the program was not in place.
The savings is equal to 2,702 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions being prevented or about 69,000 tree seedlings planted and grown over a decade.
“Energy Awareness Month is all about teaching people to make good decisions about the energy they use, and that’s what our program does: today, every person on our staff uses energy as needed and is careful not to waste it,” said Pat Browne, the district’s Director of Buildings and Grounds, in a prepared statement.
The program is implemented through a partnership with Energy Education, a behavior-based conservation company
The school district has been an Energy Star Partner since August 2010.
