Former Wis. state senator cited for drunken driving
MADISON, Wis. — Police say a former state senator has been cited for drunken driving.
Fond du Lac County Chief Deputy Mark Strand says his agency got a cellphone call from a driver who reported 45-year-old Randy Hopper was all over the road on U.S. Highway 151 in the town of Taycheedah.
Strand says Hopper pulled into a grocery store parking lot, where a deputy arrested him. He spent the night in jail and was released early Monday morning. Strand declined to release Hopper's blood alcohol levels.
Hopper, a Fond du Lac Republican, lost his seat in August in a recall election spurred by his support for Gov. Scott Walker's collective bargaining law. A call Monday morning to a directory listing for Hopper went unanswered.
