Financial waste isn’t hard to find
How can we possibly balance the budget with the government waste that exists? Recently a friend’s relatives, GSA workers, were moved back to the U.S. by the government. The government (we the taxpayers) paid to have their belongings (including a pair of chopsticks and an empty box in reams of paper) packed and moved into their home and a storage facility (later moved into the home by a moving company paid for by taxpayers), and a two-week stay at a hotel even though the home they owned in the U.S. was vacant. They also got a six-week “adjustment” period until they began training for new positions.
How many weeks of unemployment benefits would this kind of expenditure cover? Washington not only needs to find out where to cut expenses but more importantly where the money that is being spent is wasted.
