King and queen, poms and flash mob dance part of Lake Zurich homecoming assembly
Lake Zurich High School's homecoming assembly Friday at the school featured all the traditions of the annual event, as well as a different twist.
Students and staff were treated to the announcement of the homecoming king David LaVanne and queen Kimmie Volkman, performances by the poms, a fall sports update and the homecoming court introductions.
But what drew a resounding applause from the crowd was a flash mob dance. The teachers and staff danced first, followed by the senior athletes. The choreographed dances lasted about two minutes each.
Lake Zurich's homecoming game matched Lake Forest Scouts against the Bears Friday night. The homecoming dance will be Saturday evening in the school's main gym.
