19-year-old man shot in Carpentersville
Carpentersville police are releasing few details about a 19-year-old man who was shot at least once in the abdomen Thursday morning.
At 10:30 a.m., police received a call of shots fired and responded to Berkshire Circle and Wakefield Drive where they found the victim. The man was taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin where he was alert and talking, Cmdr. Timothy Bosshart said.
Police do not have enough information to confirm whether the shooting was gang-related.
“We haven’t ruled that out yet, let’s put it that way,” Bosshart said early Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, police continue to investigate and have not made any arrests.
At the time of the shooting, three black men were seen running from the area, Bosshart said, adding that it is not yet known was transpired before the shooting.
“We are following up several leads,” Bosshart said. “I think this one’s going to be solvable.”
