Round Lake Beach man denies public indecency, stalking charges
A Round Lake Beach man whose arrest for performing a lewd act in his car led to him being charged with stalking pleaded not guilty to both offenses Wednesday.
Natavidad Angulo, 44, could be sentenced to up to three years in prison if convicted of both offenses.
Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Ken Larue said Angulo, of the 1500 block of Juneway Terrace, originally came to the attention of Grayslake police when a series of women complained about a car following them as they jogged near Central Park in the village.
Larue said each woman described a similar car and provided police with a license number that records showed was registered to Angulo.
Police set up surveillance on Angulo, LaRue said, and on Aug. 19 caught him in the parking lot of the Grayslake Public Library performing a lewd act while seated in his car.
Angulo was charged with public indecency, and a booking photograph of him was placed in an array of other photos and shown to each of the joggers.
LaRue said all three women identified Angulo as the person who had followed them, and the more serious charge of stalking was filed against him on Aug. 25.
Angulo appeared before Associate Judge George Bridges on Wednesday, and Bridges ordered him to return to court Nov. 1.
Angulo was freed from custody after posting $5,000 for bond.
