Cops: North Chicago man robbed nun, three other people

A North Chicago man has been charged in connection to four armed robberies including robbing a nun while wearing a mask and carrying a pistol, police said.

Waukegan Police detectives spotted a black Acura Integra on Friday, matching the description of a vehicle reportedly used in several robberies and burglaries, and found an “Air Soft” pistol in the driver's waistband along with gloves and a mask, police said.

The driver, Albert C. Evans, was also in possession of stolen goods from several of the armed robberies and burglaries to motor vehicles, police said.

After the stop in the area of Golf and Ash roads, Evans who lives on the 1500 block of Broadway was brought in for questioning and confessed to four armed robberies and three burglaries to motor vehicles, police said.

In all four armed robbery cases, Evans used the pistol and wore gloves and a ski mask, according to police. One of the armed robbery victims was a Catholic nun and all were women, police said.

“Although this lowly predator only confessed to the seven crimes mentioned above, I am pretty sure he has done several more robberies in the area,” Waukegan Police Chief Daniel Greathouse said in a statement.

Police said they recovered more stolen items at Evan's hotel room on North Green Bay Road.

Evans was charged with four counts of armed robbery and three counts of burglary to motor vehicle.

He is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Greathouse said anyone who believes they have been a victim of this type of robbery should contact their community officer or his office for further assistance.
