Alcohol involved in Wisconsin crash that killed 3

TWO RIVERS, Wis. — Manitowoc County's sheriff says alcohol is believed to be a factor in an accident that killed an elderly couple and their daughter as they stood in a relative's yard.

Sheriff Robert Hermann said Thursday 79-year-old Lawrence Gerroll, his 75-year-old wife Lou Gerroll and 48-year-old daughter, Joan Gerroll, were watching a roofing project at the home of the couple's son near Two Rivers when all three were struck by a van that careened off the road and into the yard Wednesday afternoon.

The driver of the van, a 43-year-old Manitowoc woman, and her 6-year-old son suffered serious injuries in the crash and are hospitalized in Green Bay. The Manitowoc County coroner says the three Gerrolls died from blunt force trauma. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
