Lombard Fire hires fire & life safety specialists

LOMBARD, Illinois—Two new Lombard Fire Department part-time employees will assist in providing fire and life safety education to local schools, civic and community groups, businesses and senior centers.

Heidi Arndorfer and Lisa Bartholomew both bring career experience in the fire service as well as experience in teaching fire and life safety. They will work under the direction of the Fire Marshal.

Arndorfer served the Arlington Heights Fire Department for nine years as a firefighter/paramedic. During her active duty with the Arlington Heights Fire Department, Arndorfer fulfilled multiple specialist roles that included Hazardous Materials First Responder, Rescue Specialist Confined Space, Vertical Rescue and Instructor 1. She was also involved with public education in fire safety and was responsible for a successful grant that resulted in funding for a Fire Department Safety Trailer.

Bartholomew served seven years as a firefighter/paramedic with the Naperville Fire Department and a private ambulance company. During her tenure in Naperville, Bartholomew gained experience as a Suppression Specialist, Fire Apparatus Engineer and Paramedic. She also performed life safety inspections in Naperville and has experience working in marketing as well.

In addition to working with fire education, Arndorfer and Bartholomew will assist with fire inspections and day to day fire prevention bureau duties.

“We have gained two excellent employees in the Lombard Fire Department,” said Lombard Fire Marshal Chuck Riforgiate. “Both of these women are eager to meet the challenges of the Bureau and I expect each will become a valuable asset to the Village,” he added.

Both positions were previously vacant in the Bureau of Public Education.
