Dinner-dance added to Holy Family's Homecoming
Holy Family Catholic Community in Inverness will be celebrating its homecoming Friday, Oct. 14 to Sunday, Oct. 16. The weekend includes a new “Little Black Dress” event with dinner and dancing.
“Holy Family is a parish that is truly a family. Members continually extend their collective arms outward to the surrounding communities, inviting people to join in worship, festivities and celebrations,” said the Rev. Terry Keehan, pastor of Holy Family Catholic Community. “The homecoming is an invitation to come home to the church and celebrate the bounties of the harvest season and have some fun.”
Held in the church's multitorium, the weekend kicks off with the Harvest Moonlight Dinner & Dancing Friday evening at 6 p.m. The “Little Black Dress” festivity features a gourmet, plated dinner with complimentary wine and a cash bar. The Jeff Poindexter Jazz Ensemble will entertain during the cocktail hour, followed by dancing instruction by local professional dance instructors and music by Madison (1950s-'80s music) and disc jockey Expo Taghap.
Tickets for this event are $75 per person; $125 per couple and $600 for a table of 10.
The weekend will continue with free events on Saturday and Sunday. “Rock Out Under the Harvest Moon” begins Saturday, following the 5 p.m. Mass. The fun, family evening will feature one of the largest dessert bars in the Chicago area. This grand dessert bar will offer over 24-feet of homemade delectables, free for your sweet tooth's enjoyment.
The day will also feature music by the Second Time Around Band, wine tasting by Dobby's World Wide Liquors and food and wine for purchase from area restaurants and wine distributors.
Sunday's free festivities continue the celebration following the 9 a.m. Mass. A scarecrow festival for children will be held in the courtyard. Following the 4 p.m. Mass, teens and their families are invited to enjoy a dinner together to end the harvest weekend celebration of homecoming.
“The new dinner/dance is sure to be an enhancement to the weekend and is a perfect way to kick off the Homecoming,” said Keehan. “However, the enormous dessert bar is one of my favorites of the event — I can't wait to see what is offered this year.”
