Judson women continue soccer streak

The Judson University women’s soccer team continued its unbeaten streak last week at 10 matches, tying the program record set in 2006, with wins over Calumet College, 5-0, and the University of St. Francis, 3-1.

Jenna Steffensen led Judson on the week with 3 goals. Sara Hoffman earned her seventh shutout of the year vs. Calumet. Judson is currently 10-1-1 and 5-0 in the CCAC and moved up to No. 23 in the latest NAIA National Poll.

Men’s soccer: Suffering its first CCAC loss of the year to St. Francis, Judson is now 8-5 and 4-1 in the CCAC. Judson earned a win over Calumet College, 9-2, as Martin Khoshaba had a hat trick and Tom Kruse and Santiago Munoz provided 2 goals each. Judson then fell to St. Francis, 2-1, on Saturday, as Munoz had the lone goal. Kruse leads the team with 23 points.

Volleyball: Going 3-3 on the week and improving its record to 9-14, Judson earned its third CCAC victory of the year over Calumet College, 25-11, 25-13, 25-19. Judson also had wins over Indiana-Northwest, 25-14, 25-22, 25-12, and Iowa Wesleyan, 25-27, 23-25, 25-20, 25-22, 15-11. Carissa Oelke had two double-double performances with 20 kills and 20 digs vs. Clarke and 21 kills and 10 digs against Iowa Wesleyan.

Cross country: Putting on a great show at the St. Ambrose Invitational, the Judson University women’s team finished second and the men third out of six teams. The women were just one point shy of winning the meet with 35 points as Sarah Miller finished in second place with a time of 20:09. Judson took second, third, ninth, 10th, 12th, and 15th place. Nate Nevius led the men’s team with a second-place finish in the 8K with a time of 27:35.

Women’s tennis: Alexa Schofield was named the NCCAA National Tennis Player of the Week for her 3-0 record and not allowing a point. Judson went 1-2 with a 9-0 win over Mount Mary College and is 5-4.

Women’s golf: The Judson University women’s golf team finished out its fall season at the CCAC Fall Invitational, finishing fifth of six teams. Katlyn Anderberg led the team with a ninth-place finish (91-88-179).
