Police investigating Chicago hotel death

Investigators say they are checking surveillance video and questioning people in connection with the stabbing death of a Wisconsin woman, whose body was found in a Chicago hotel.

The body of Sarai Michaels of LaCrosse, Wis. was found early Tuesday in the Hotel Felix. The 31-year-old woman suffered several wounds to the chest and the back of her neck. Authorities say a bloody knife was found next to the body.

Estranged husband Stephen Michaels, speaking from his Minneapolis home, said the woman was the mother of five children, two by him. He said the woman’s life had unraveled in recent years.

Authorities say the woman has a history of prostitution.

Michaels said his former wife traveled to Chicago with two Minnesota women, likely to turn tricks.
