Public invited to comment on questions facing Batavia schools
Submitted by Batavia Unit District 101
Batavia Unit District 101 board of education will hold its first Listening Post from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at H.C. Storm Elementary School, 305 N. Van Nortwick Ave., Batavia. There will be no routine business items on this agenda. The “listening post” is designed to gather public input on priorities, challenges, and financial priorities from the public.
Greg Romaneck, associate superintendent and chief of staff, will moderate the listening post. There will be four general questions. The time will be divided equally between the four questions. Staff, parents and students are encouraged to attend and stand and share their input. Participants may also write their input on the easels with the same topic title.
Listening Post is not a question-and-answer period, rather, a time for the public to share important educational priorities, challenges, financial priorities and what are the most important skills that students need to know. If you have specific questions, call the Superintendent’s office at (630) 937-8834 to schedule an appointment to get answers to specific questions.
Four general questions:
타 What are the greatest challenges or issues this school district has to address over the next five years in order to provide a quality education for all students?
타 What should the financial priorities be for our school district during the next five years?
타 What are the most important skills, appreciations and abilities students need to know or be able to do, to be prepared for college or career?
타 What could the school district do that would increase excellence in the educational system?
