Carpenterville VFW to celebrate Oktoberfest

Carpentersville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5915 and its Auxiliaries will host the third annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 15. They will be serving from 5 to 8 p.m. at the post home, 301 Lake Marian Road in Carpentersville. The menu features German pot roast, German potato salad, red cabbage, vegetables, applesauce and more. Everything is homemade. The final touch will be homemade apple slices with coffee tea or milk. The donation for the fest is $10 for adults, $5 for children, age 5 to 11. Kids under age 5 are admitted free. Join them for a fun evening featuring German food and music. Everyone is welcome.

Later in the month, the VFW Post 5915 Ladies Auxiliary will hold a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 at the post home, 301 Lake Marian Road in Carpentersville. The dinner includes a salad bar, garlic bread, Italian sausage, homemade meatballs and spaghetti. To top off the meal, they will have a variety of homemade dessert served with coffee, tea or milk. The donation for the dinner is $10 per person, $5 for children, age 4 to 11; children under age 4 are admitted free. The main portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the American Cancer Society and the remainder will go to other community projects that the VFW supports. Everyone is welcome.
