Terre Haute’s crow team plans diversion campaign
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The Terre Haute Crow Planning Committee is getting ready for a new campaign following the first arrivals of the pesky blackbirds in the western Indiana city.
The Tribune-Star reports the group will start training volunteers Tuesday to launch fireworks to deter the birds from their favorite roosts in the city.
Current crow sightings are still rare, but committee members are expecting the annual influx of the messy birds to begin later this month. The first night the committee and its volunteers will gather to launch fireworks will be Oct. 17.
Committee head Jim Luzar of the Vigo County Purdue Extension Office said the panel’s been planning for this season’s campaign since March.
The Crow Committee used fireworks to drive the birds away for the first time a year ago.
