History teachers conference to start at EIU

CHARLESTON— History teachers from around the state are planning to meet at Eastern Illinois University this week for a conference.

The 2011 History Teachers Conference is Thursday; it’s the 32nd annual conference.

The Mattoon Journal-Gazette & (Charleston) Times-Courier reports that the theme this year is “Crosscurrents in the Curriculum: Integrating History, the Social Studies & Technology in Today’s Classroom.”

The conference will include a talk by Doug Bower. He’s the associate dean with the university’s college of education.
