Elgin cops restored order in neighborhood

Kudos to the Elgin Police Department.

A couple weeks ago, our quiet neighborhood was unexpectedly interrupted by a family that rented a home. As a group of concerned neighbors shared insights and thoughts, the situation grew worse each day. The landlord was contacted and assured us that it was only the move-in situation at present and that all will be fine, however the very next day, the police were called not once, but three times for domestic issues and more. In fact, they even closed off the street.

The Elgin Police were on the scene and also realized what had happened here. They addressed the issue with the landlord and found him to be in violation of a rental license. The police got the city code department involved and within a week our neighborhood was back to normal. Needless to say, this was not without incident. However, the Elgin police always acted and responded promptly and efficiently.

I am a proud citizen of Elgin, and I am very proud of the job Police Chief Jeff Swoboda has done with the force. I hope more of you will do as I do — thank, shake hands or even just offer a friendly wave to a policeman. I believe they deserve it.
