Elgin man charged with slashing girlfriend with knife
A 25-year-old Elgin man is in Kane County jail charged with a trio of domestic battery offenses, including slashing a girlfriend in the head and neck with a knife during a domestic dispute on Thursday, police said.
Jerome Giddens, of the 200 block of Center Street, struck his girlfriend in the head with a toy car, punched her in the head, gouged her right eye and cut her in the neck and forehead with a knife, police said.
He was charged with two counts of domestic battery and one count of aggravated battery.
Giddens must post 10 percent of $75,000 to be released. His next court date is Oct. 18 in the Kane County Judicial Center.
