College football preview: Kent State at NIU Huskies

Series: NIU leads 15-7, and won the last meeting 42-14 in 2008.

Players to watch: Kent State is one of the national leaders in forcing turnovers, thanks to LB C.J. Malauulu and DT Roosevelt Nix. ... With 370 yards through the air last week, Northern Illinois QB Chandler Harnish became the school's all-time passing leader, breaking the mark set by George Bork from 1960-63.

The skinny: After a brutal loss at Central Michigan last week, Northern Illinois will try again to get its defense in order. The Huskies are allowing an average of 500 yards per contest. NIU has won 15 of the last 18 games in this series, including nine in a row at home.

Fast fact: Ex-NFL wide receiver and Naperville North grad Justin McCareins was inducted into the NIU Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday.
