Oshkosh, union reach tentative agreement

OSHKOSH, Wis. ) — Oshkosh Corp. and union leaders have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract, which could avert a strike by more than 3,000 workers.

The company and union representatives met Thursday as workers rallied outside the meeting with picket signs. One issue that caused union members to reject the last contract offer was the company’s desire to hire temporary workers. There was no immediate word on whether that language was removed from the tentative agreement.

United Auto Workers Local 578 president Nick Nitschke tells WLUK-TV that union members will vote on the company’s offer Saturday.
