Officials concerned for missing Ind. man’s safety

LEAVENWORTH, Ind. — Authorities say they’re concerned for the safety of a missing Indiana spelunker who was last seen on Saturday.

Conservation Officer Cora Showalter says officials are concerned that 25-year-old Kevin Eve of Georgetown might be injured and exposed to the elements.

Showalter says about 50 volunteers and emergency workers gathered in the Harrison-Crawford State Forest near the Ohio River town of Leavenworth on Thursday to again search the forest and its caves. Showalter says a search of an area where search dogs picked up a possible scent yielded no results Wednesday.

Officials have said they don’t suspect foul play. Showalter says searchers are concerned because Eve may have been outside for five days, but the military veteran is believed to have survival skills.
