Parties, promotions benefit Save-A-Pet in Gurnee

Rescued dogs and cats of Save-A-Pet Adoption Center will benefit from several fundraising events and promotions throughout the North and Northwest suburbs in October.

These events represent a commitment by communities to ensure Save-A-Pet can continue rebuilding its finances and save the lives of homeless and neglected dogs and cats.

Save-A-Pet volunteers will host the “Ales & Tails” fundraiser from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Stevens’ Steak House, Milwaukee Avenue and Washington Street, Gurnee. The event will include food, Lovin’ Oven desserts, libations, door prizes, silent auction, live band, raffle and more. Limited tickets remain at www.saveapetil.org.

From 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, the Autumn Craft Beer and Food Pairing at the Lamplighter Inn Tavern & Grille in Palatine will benefit the shelter. Part of ticket sales and all raffle ticket sales will support rescue operations.

In an effort to “go green,” Lamplighter’s is selling all event tickets by phone at (847) 991-2420. Space is limited.

The third event is a Halloween gathering, time to be determined, at Lake Shore Harley-Davidson, 14000 Rockland Road, Green Oaks. Customers and members of the public are encouraged to bring their own pets in costume for a special pet parade.

Finally, Save-A-Pet will host its annual Michael Lechner Supply Stocking Stuffer drive beginning Oct. 31. Supporters can drop-off or mail supply donations to Save-A-Pet, 31664 N. Fairfield Road, Grayslake, anytime before the end of the year.

Money saved from not having to purchase the donated supplies can be allocated to the costs of saving even more lives. Save-A-Pet’s supply “wish list,” along with listings of all upcoming events and promotions, is at www.saveapetil.org.

Save-A-Pet Adoption Center, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, is one of the largest no-kill rescues in Lake County and one of the very few operating a full-time adoption center. Save-A-Pet does not temperament test its dogs and cats, nor does it discriminate against an animal’s age, health or breed.

As a no-kill organization, Save-A-Pet’s efforts to rescue and care for dogs and cats costs more than $900,000 per year. Many of these dogs and cats would not have been given a second chance if not for Save-A-Pet.

Any schools or businesses interested in hosting a fundraising event or promotion should contact Development Manager Marc Portugal at marcp@saveapetil.org.
