City of Naperville Announces New Public Works Director

Development Services Team Leader Dick Dublinski Accepts Position

Naperville City Manager Doug Krieger announced today that Dick Dublinski has been selected as Naperville's new public works director. Dublinski has served as the City's development services team leader since 1998.

“We had an outstanding slate of internal candidates, but Dick was ultimately the best fit for this critical position,” City Manager Doug Krieger said. “The leadership Dick displayed as development services team leader has prepared him for the exciting new challenges he will face as our public works director. I am confident his hands-on, down to earth approach will serve our residents and business community well in this capacity.”

Dublinski will be responsible for overseeing several key areas in public works, including fleet services, street and storm water maintenance, forestry, contracted refuse and recycling collection and household hazardous waste recovery. As a director, Dublinski will work directly with the City Manager and City Council on the City's strategic direction. He will also directly supervise four division managers and is indirectly responsible for 101 employees.

“I am so proud that Dick Dublinski has accepted this position, and I know he will do a wonderful job of keeping our streets clean and safe,” said Mayor A. George Pradel. “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Dick. I have known him for many years, and I am confident that he will continue to work closely with the community and provide the public work services that our residents and businesses deserve.”

Prior to joining the City in 1998, Dick spent many years as a builder in Naperville and working with different construction firms as a Project Engineer. Dick received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah in 1985.

“During my time with the Transportation, Engineering and Development Business Group, I have had the privilege of working on a variety of exciting projects while interacting with a host of talented people who share the same vision of achieving success for Naperville,” Dublinski said. “I am honored and excited about this new opportunity to continue serving the community in the public works arena and look forward to furthering Naperville's reputation as a world class city.”

Dick has been part of the Naperville community since 1970 and lives with his wife Kathy and three kids, Peter, Liane and Hannah.
