Let Sen. Schmidt do her job

The recent uproar over Suzi Schmidt is nothing short of gross hypocrisy. Illinois is near dysfunctional and facing huge problems. If the so-called polital leadership — and others — consider her momentary lapse in judgment (in the middle of a stressful domestic dispute) worthy of their time and effort, one must conclude such distractions are more appealing than tackling meaningful issues. A work colleague of mine used to refer to “rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.” And so this is. Sen. Schmidt is a consensus builder with a good head on her shoulders. Let her do her job.
