Woman killed in Route 20 crash in Hampshire
A female driver was killed when her vehicle was struck by a semitrailer on Route 20 in Hampshire late Wednesday afternoon, according to fire department officials.
The woman, whose name is being withheld pending notification of her family, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the semitrailer struck her vehicle at the intersection of Big Timber Road.
Police and rescue crews responded about 4:45 p.m. and pronounced the woman dead at 5:12 p.m., said Hampshire Fire District Chief Curt Kramer.
A stretch of Route 20 remained shut down in both directions from Big Timber Road to Gast Road fore more than 5 hours as police took measurements and investigated the scene.
Hampshire police could not be reached Wednesday night.
