State parks remain closed in Door County

MADISON, Wis. — State parks and a state trail popular for catching fall colors remain closed in Wisconsin’s Door County as cleanup continues from last week’s powerful winds.

Department of Natural Resources crews from around Wisconsin have been working to clear trees and repair shower buildings

The DNR hopes to reopen facilities before the weekend but says uncertainties remain about power and water, restrooms and shower facilities.

Campers with reservations are being contacted through the online reservation system and by phone, if necessary, to give them status updates.

Over the weekend the popular Peninsula Golf Course was able to reopen. Power was restored to headquarters and shop buildings in affected parks.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin Public Service says efforts to restore power in Door County are nearly complete.
