Hoffman mayor helps Chicago Express count down to puck drop
The Chicago Express “Countdown to Puck Drop” continued Tuesday with featured participant, Hoffman Estates Mayor Bill McLeod.
Similar to the Olympic torch, the official game puck is touring the Chicago area, making stops with notable Express supporters.
Photos of each of the puck’s stops are being released daily on Facebook and Twitter.
The Chicago Express inaugural season home opener is Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates.
It will usher in a new era in Chicago professional sports — with the addition of the Express, Chicago becomes the only city in North America to have a team in each of the major hockey leagues: NHL AHL and ECHL.
The Express are among the 20 teams of the East Coast Hockey League, which formed in 1988 and plays a 72-game schedule.
