Hoffman Estates wins air quality award

The Village of Hoffman Estates was recently awarded “Platinum” community status by Clean Air Counts, a regional environmental initiative of the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus.

This recognition follows Clean Air Counts “Gold” status, which Hoffman Estates was awarded in 2010 for our awareness and practices to improve community air quality.

The village’s Green Initiatives and Environmental commissions, contributed to reaching this accomplishment. Steps included an idling-reduction policy for village vehicles, zoning requirements that reinforce environmentally friendly design techniques, participation in Earth Hour and Bike-to-Work Week, use of energy-efficient lighting fixtures, purchase of alternative energy credits and development of the Hoffman Estates Green Business Recognition Program.
