Teachers solidarity in Zion:

Teachers were scheduled to gather Tuesday morning outside Zion-Benton Township High School District 126 to call attention to their concern about being without a new contract. Michael McGue, president of the Lake County Federation of Teachers union, said the high school instructors have been working without a deal for about four months. He said the high school teachers would be joined in solidarity in a parking lot by instructors from Zion Elementary District 6, Winthrop Harbor Elementary District 1 and Beach Park Elementary District 3. About 400 teachers were expected to walk from the lot and enter Zion-Benton High at one time for a joint institute day that includes the feeder elementary districts. Teachers at districts 1 and 6 also have been working under expired contracts, McGue said.
