Code enforcement provides seasonal reminders for residents

LOMBARD, Illinois—With the fall season here and winter approaching, Lombard's Code Enforcement Division has a number of seasonal reminders for residents.

• Properly stack firewood

Storing firewood in piles can cause a nuisance to the neighbors by providing a habitat for vermin. Please stack the firewood no more than eight feet wide and no more than four feet high. This allows for a maximum of one cord of wood on the property. To see the entire ordinance pertaining to firewood, please visit the Village website.

• Cover swimming pools

Treat and cover all swimming pools and take care that no water accumulates on

the cover.

• Maintain lawn and landscaping

Cut the grass throughout the growing season and trim bushes and branches off the

public sidewalk allowing an overhead clearance of seven feet. Trim hedges in the front and corner yards to no more than four feet in height. Pay attention to landscaping along driveways, keeping at least 20 feet along the driveway clear of any sight obstruction greater than two feet in height.
