Police say drunk man stole, crashed ambulance
Chicago police say an intoxicated man has been hospitalized after he stole an ambulance from a Chicago hospital and crashed it.
Police spokeswoman Amina Greer says paramedics were loading an empty stretcher into the ambulance early Sunday morning when the man took the vehicle. He then allegedly crashed the vehicle nearby, hitting several vehicles along the way.
Greer says the 37-year-old man suffered minor injuries and was transported in good condition back to Norwegian-American Hospital. He is charged with driving while intoxicated, criminal damage to government property, possession of a stolen vehicle and other traffic violations.
