Winds cut power to 16,000 NIPSCO customers

NIPSCO crews blamed the outages on a “transmission problem” caused by the high winds.

A high wind warning remained in effect for northwestern Indiana until Friday afternoon. The National Weather Service says the region will see sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts as high as 45 mph.
