Traffic on Washington St. to be one lane Oct. 4

Interruptions Necessary for Platform Reconstruction at Naperville Metra Station

On Tuesday, October 4, traffic on Washington Street between Fifth Avenue and North Avenue will be reduced to one lane.

In addition, traffic will be stopped for periodic intervals in that location from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Northbound and southbound motorists on Washington Street can expect to experience delays during this time and should allow additional time for their trip or seek an alternate route. This work is weather dependent; notice of schedule changes will be posted at www.naperville.il.us/metraplatform.aspx.

The periodic traffic stoppage is necessary to pour concrete for the reconstruction of the south platform on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad Bridge over Washington Street as part of the Naperville Metra Station Platform Improvement Project. Flagging operations will be in effect to guide traffic and ensure passage of emergency vehicles.

The Naperville Metra Station Platform Improvement Project involves removal and reconstruction of the north and south platforms of the Naperville Metra Station. Construction is slated for completion in 2012. For more information on the Metra Station Platform Improvement Project, visit the City's website at www.naperville.il.us/metraplatform.aspx.
