New church basketball court thanks to Palatine Scout
Christ Lutheran Church, Palatine, has a new basketball court thanks to a local Boy Scout. Palatine Troop 188 Eagle Scout candidate Justin David Roberts developed and worked on this project, with the help of many volunteers, as part of his Eagle qualifications.
Over 45.50 hours went into the planning of this Eagle project. Roberts, a veteran Scout, had the help of over 115.25 volunteer hours from the troop and the community, who worked with him on building the new basketball court.
The court now features a bench at courtside and a half-court basketball surface. The basketball court and bench involved many areas of expertise including designing, stenciling and painting the court. In addition, a basketball pole already in place received a facelift. The existing backboard was replaced.
This refurbished basketball court will be a real asset to Christ Lutheran’s youth groups and the surrounding community.
Boy Scout Troop 188 meets during the school year at Christ Lutheran Church, 41 S. Rohlwing Road, Palatine. Boys range in age from 11 to 18. For information, visit http://www.Troop-188.org.
