Mundelein team holds disaster training

The Mundelein Community Emergency Response Team will host a training weekend Oct. 14-16. CERT is a program that prepares community members for disasters and other hazards. Training includes disaster preparedness, fire suppression, light search and rescue, disaster medical operations, team organization and disaster psychology.

Following a weekend training session, team members attend bimonthly meetings, training sessions and assist with community events. Team members may also participate in local and statewide training events and assist village emergency responders as needed.

During the February blizzard, Mundelein CERT members assisted the village by coordinating a temporary shelter for stranded motorists at Mundelein Fire Station on Midlothian Road. Contact Jen Rogers (847) 949-3260 for an application packet or email cert@mundelein.org.
