Lung association plans walk in Oak Brook

More than 800 people are expected to gather Sunday, Oct. 2, in Oak Brook for the American Lung Association in Greater Chicago’s Fight for Air Walk.

Organizers said they hope to raise more than $130,000 to support the association’s fight for healthy lungs and air.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the walk steps off at 10 a.m. from McDonald’s Hamburger University, 2715 Jorie Blvd., Oak Brook.

“Many of our participants walk in honor or in memory of a loved one,” Meghan Miller, executive director of the American Lung Association, said in a news release. “They fundraise in hopes of finding new treatments or a cure for lung diseases like asthma, COPD and lung cancer.”

Participants walk as individuals or teams on a 3.1-mile course through the campus. Shorter walk options are available on event day and wheelchairs and strollers are welcome.
