Ind. state police probe officer shooting in Goshen

GOSHEN, Ind. — State police are investigating the death of a man shot by police after he fled from a traffic stop in northern Indiana.

State police say an Elkhart County sheriff's deputy stopped a pickup truck about 10:20 p.m. Sunday for a traffic infraction. As the deputy approached the pickup, the driver sped off.

Goshen police joined the chase when the driver entered the city. The pickup crashed into a plumbing business about 10 minutes into the chase. State police say the man was shot in the events after the crash but didn't provide any further details.

A message seeking comment was left Monday morning for Sgt. Trent Smith, the state police spokesman.
